Jeff was proud, surprised, and humbled to be presented with a check for $1,000 as the prize for winning the Academy of Financial Services’ “Plan-Plus Best Analytical Paper Award” during this academic conference in Las Vegas in October. His was one of the two best papers selected from about 130 which were presented, many by university professors from around the world. The presentation – “Do Financial Advisory Designations such as CFP®, ChFC®, and CFA® Connote Lower FINRA Misconduct?” – was based on Jeff’s dissertation research, and measures whether Florida financial advisors with designations have lower levels of reported malpractice than those who do not. Surprisingly, he found it goes down for CFA®’s, but up for CFP®’s and ChFC®. The presentation slide deck can be viewed here.
